Basketball Recap: Howard Comes Up Short

Howard lost against Baldwin back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Howard Huskies took a 62-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Baldwin Braves. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 441st, while the Braves are ranked 63rd).

Deven Nelson was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine boards for Baldwin. Another player making a difference was Jared Mundie, who posted eight points and four steals.

Howard has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Baldwin, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Howard will venture away from home to challenge Westside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westside will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Howard surely won't give up without a fight. As for Baldwin, they will take on Hephzibah at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Baldwin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.1 points per game this season.
