Baseball Recap: Middleton's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Middleton's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Brandon Eagles 3-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Suhaan Vusirikala spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ahiam Olmeda, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayvin Fisher, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Middleton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Middleton's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-14. As for Brandon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Middleton will square off against Armwood at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Brandon, they will challenge Riverview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brandon is facing Riverview at the right time seeing as Riverview is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
