United South is 8-2 against Nixon since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. United South will challenge Nixon at 6:00 p.m. The last three games United South has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
United South is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since March 2, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of United by a score of 8-6.
Danyka Charles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, United South saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Venegas, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Camila Venegas was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Nixon posted their closest win since February 20th on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Palmview, sneaking past 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Nixon also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Giulia Garza gave up just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, Ruby Ibarra was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Yaritza Ramos, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Nixon pushed their record up to 13-9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for United South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-13-1 record this season.
United South came out on top in a nail-biter against Nixon in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, sneaking past 6-4. Will United South repeat their success, or does Nixon has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
