Softball Recap: Richland Center Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Richland Center, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Seneca Indians on Saturday.

Kyree Fischer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaycee Gander, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carley Mieden, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Richland Center hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win got Richland Center back to even at 6-6. As for Seneca, they moved to 8-6 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Richland Center didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Auburndale on the 3rd. As for Seneca, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-5 loss against Fennimore on the 3rd.
