Basketball Recap: Branford Gets the Win

Branford hadn't done well against Countryside Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Branford Buccaneers managed a 36-30 victory over the Countryside Christian Minutemen. This was a revenge game for the Buccaneers: when they faced off against the Minutemen back in December of 2024, they had to take a 42-30 defeat.

Branford found their leader in freshman Amyah James, who went 6 for 14 en route to 14 points and six steals. Another player making a difference was Kalyn Osgood, who posted seven points.

Branford has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points per game. As for Countryside Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.

Branford has already played their next contest, a 55-44 win against Hamilton County on the 14th. As for Countryside Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 40-26 defeat against Oak Hall on the 14th.
