Football Recap: Waitsburg Cardinals vs. Sunnyside Christian Knights        
        
		
             With a playoff game on the line, Waitsburg rose to the challenge  on Friday. They blew past the Sunnyside Christian Knights 54-24. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won three games by 30  points or more  so far this season.
 This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to  Koyen Fortune and  he. Fortune rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown while  he rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown.  Brenton Segraves was even better on defense, picking up  a  sack and making nine total tackles.
 Waitsburg was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 304  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've managed all season.
  Jake Smeenk and  Gunnar Alseth certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss.  Smeenk gained 209 total yards and four touchdowns, while  Alseth rushed for 104 yards on only 14 carries. The dominant performance gave  Alseth a new career-high in  rushing yards.
 Waitsburg's record now sits at 5-3. As for Sunnyside Christian, their defeat was  their fourth straight at home, which  dropped their record down to 4-5.
 As of now, neither Waitsburg nor Sunnyside Christian have any future games scheduled.
