Baseball Game Preview: Canby Cougars vs. Putnam Kingsmen

For the second straight game, Canby will face off against Putnam. The Cougars will face off against the Kingsmen at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Canby has five straight wins, Putnam has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Canby made easy work of Putnam and carried off a 9-2 victory. Considering the Cougars have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Putnam's part, Ash Cooper made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. Ian Pollard was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Canby's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Putnam, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
