The Sparrows Point Pointers will face off against the Pikesville Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sparrows Point is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
Sparrows Point came up short against Hereford on Monday, falling 13-7.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pikesville). They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Western Tech & Environmental Science on Tuesday. The Panthers have beaten the Wolverines the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolverines has come to flipping the script.
Matthew Wesley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Wesley was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Ethan Holaday was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Nate Cherry was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Pikesville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Sparrows Point's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Pikesville, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Everything went Sparrows Point's way against Pikesville when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Sparrows Point made off with a 6-0 victory. Do the Pointers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
