Softball Recap: Longmeadow Comes Up Short

Longmeadow fell victim to South Hadley and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Lancers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Longmeadow has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for South Hadley, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Longmeadow will head out to square off against Westfield at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for South Hadley, they will venture away from home to face off against Frontier Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Hawks have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
