Basketball Recap: Vail Christian Saints vs. Soroco Rams
The Vail Christian Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight defeat. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Soroco. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Vail Christian of the 54-46 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Vail Christian still got an impressive performance from Noelle Razee, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Razee has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Grace Armstrong, who scored ten points.
Soroco's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daisy Hoff, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Hoff grabbed two or more steals. Kolbie Pierce was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals and two blocks.
Vail Christian's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Soroco, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
Vail Christian will be playing at home against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hayden focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Thursday. As for Soroco, they will head out on the road to challenge the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully DSST: Cedar focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Wednesday.
