Baseball Game Preview: Brunswick Blue Devils vs. Shaker Heights Red Raiders

For the second straight game, Brunswick will face off against Shaker Heights. The Blue Devils will welcome the Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Brunswick nor Shaker Heights made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Blue Devils blew past the Red Raiders 12-2. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now won eight in a row.

Kayden Draiss tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Brunswick is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elijah Poindexter, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Nick Wojtala was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Brunswick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Shaker Heights is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8. As for Brunswick, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5.
