 Neumann-Goretti fought the good fight in their extra-innings  matchup against Cardinal O'Hara  on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took  a  9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinal O'Hara Lions. Neumann-Goretti was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cardinal O'Hara apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in May of 2023.
  Billy Smith was cooking despite his team's loss,   scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Will Gural, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances.
 Even though they lost, Neumann-Goretti  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. That's the fewest  strikeouts they've managed all season.
 On Cardinal O'Hara's side, they got a  massive  performance out of  Kevin McGuire, who  went 2-for-5 with a  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.  Brendan Till was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 3-for-4.
 Neumann-Goretti's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Cardinal O'Hara, their victory  ended  a  four-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 5-10.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neumann-Goretti will play host again  on Wednesday to welcome Archbishop Wood, where first pitch is scheduled  at 4:00  p.m. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average, (Neumann-Goretti: 3.5, Archbishop Wood: 3.9) so any  runs scored will be well earned. As for Cardinal O'Hara, they will be playing in front of their home fans against La Salle College at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. La Salle College is coming into the  match with six straight  wins on the road,  so Cardinal O'Hara will have to stop a  team with plenty of momentum.
