Top 10 Best Cities for producing NBA talent

Indianapolis edges out Chicago, Philadelphia for second place.

When it comes to producing basketball talent, there's no better city in the world then New York City.

Or maybe not.

Turns out that based on a very unscientific study using the high schools of current NBA players and the CBS Player Ratings, a five-member team composed of players who went to high school in Los Angeles would produce the best starting unit.

The Los Angeles group is an impressive one with Russell Westbrook the highest rated player of the five on the list, followed by Paul Pierce, Jrue Holiday, Brandon Jennings and DeMar Derozan. All five players rank among the top 40 players in the NBA, according to the CBS player ratings.

New York City, meanwhile, is back in sixth place behind Indianapolis, Chicago, Philadelphia and Newark. Seattle follows New York City at No. 7 with Atlanta, Dallas and Houston filling out the top ten.

Some adjustments were made for two players - Derrick Rose and Andrew Bynum. Neither Rose nor Bynum played this year and thus do not have a positive player rating. It is assumed that they would be among the top 20 players in the NBA when healthy.

The players listed on each team are listed in order of their total player rating.
