Volleyball Recap: Sierra Vista Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Coronado

Sierra Vista faced Coronado in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mountain Lions took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The defeat continues a trend for the Mountain Lions in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost nine in a row.

Regi Beshiri paced Sierra Vista's offense, picking up 12 kills. Beshiri got some help from Jeremiah James and his 19 assists. Finally, Ben La kept Sierra Vista's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Sierra Vista now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Coronado, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.

Sierra Vista wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Mater Academy East Las Vegas on the 5th. As for Coronado, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Legacy on the 5th.
