Baseball Recap: Beaufort Comes Up Short

Beaufort extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 8-11 in the process. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Ashley Wildcats. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for West Ashley, they pushed their record up to 6-13 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games.

For West Ashley's part, their win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Burnette, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Burnette has posted since back in April of 2024. Brooks Mullinax also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Coming up, Beaufort will challenge Bluffton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for West Ashley, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-6 victory against John Champe on the 16th.
