Preview: Cascade Christian Challengers vs. Vale Vikings
Cascade Christian is on a 13-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Vale is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cascade Christian Challengers will take on the Vale Vikings at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cascade Christian had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They breezed by Warrenton at home to the tune of 40-0. Given Cascade Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Warrenton is ranked 97th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ashton Moody was his usual excellent self, throwing for 98 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Caleb Scaglione and his 96 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Cascade Christian's victory.
Meanwhile, Vale got themselves on the board against Santiam Christian on Friday, but Santiam Christian never followed suit. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 33-0 victory over the Eagles.
Their wins bumped Cascade Christian to 10-0 and Vale to 9-0.
Cascade Christian came up short against Vale in their previous matchup back in November of 2015, falling 48-38. Will Cascade Christian have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
