Recap: Fossil Ridge SaberCats vs. Monarch Coyotes

It was a good run, but the Fossil Ridge SaberCats unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Monarch 46-42. Fossil Ridge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Monarch apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Several SaberCats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eli Nutting, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Walker Shields, who scored nine points.

Even though they lost, Fossil Ridge were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monarch only posted three assists.

Monarch got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Carlson out in front who scored 12 points. Graham Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.

Fossil Ridge's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4. As for Monarch, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fossil Ridge's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Prairie View at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Prairie View is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Monarch won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mountain Range at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Mountain Range's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
