Basketball Game Preview: Gunnison Valley Bulldogs vs. San Juan Broncos

Gunnison Valley hasn't had much luck against San Juan recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 2:00 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Gunnison Valley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-49 to Grand County. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The losing side was boosted by Autumn Anderson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Linsi Hansen, who posted six points in addition to six boards and four blocks.

Meanwhile, San Juan played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. 2025 welcomed they with a 64-43 loss courtesy of North Sevier. The loss continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now lost nine in a row.

San Juan's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Gunnison Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Gunnison Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their game against San Juan when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 43-37 victory. Will Gunnison Valley repeat their success, or does San Juan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
