Basketball Recap: Fulton Science Academy Comes Up Short

Fulton Science Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 74-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Saints. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (57), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Fulton Science Academy lost, don't look at Julian Edney. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 28 points and ten rebounds. Edney has become a key player for the Mustangs: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least 20 points, but 0-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Turney, who posted eight points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Fulton Science Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Fulton Science Academy will square off against William & Reed Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Cornerstone Prep Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
