Basketball Recap: Putnam Comes Up Short

If Putnam was feeling good fresh off their 60-25 takedown of Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Putnam Kingsmen had to suffer through a 77-29 loss at the hands of the Wilsonville Wildcats. The loss continues a trend for the Kingsmen in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Wilsonville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabi Moultrie led the charge by dropping a double-double with 22 points and ten assists. Moultrie's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Audrey Counts, who went 8 of 10 to rack up 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Putnam's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Wilsonville, they pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Putnam will host Hillsboro at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wilsonville, they will welcome Parkrose at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
