Basketball Recap: Meridian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Calvary Christian Academy last Monday, Meridian came back down to earth. The Meridian Hawks fell to the Shelbyville Rams 49-45. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 56-33.

Kenzie Jones was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double with 25 points, 15 boards, and 11 blocks for Shelbyville. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of Shelbyville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Smith, who posted ten points.

Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Shelbyville, their win bumped their record up to 8-19.

As of now, neither Meridian nor Shelbyville have any future games scheduled.
