Softball Recap: East Greenwich Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

East Greenwich entered their tilt with South Kingstown on Sunday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Rebels. The Avengers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rebels, too.

Kayleigh Chaiyabhat spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chloe Hartman was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Maura Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

East Greenwich pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for South Kingstown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

East Greenwich didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-2 win against Mt. Hope on the 19th. As for South Kingstown, they have also already played their next match, a 15-2 victory against Woonsocket on the 19th.
