Softball Game Preview: King Mustangs vs. Carroll Tigers

King is 0-10 against Carroll since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. King will be playing at home against Carroll at 6:00 p.m. King has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

King is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game last Saturday. They lost 19-1 to Gregory-Portland.

Meanwhile, Carroll came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Wildcats. Considering the Tigers have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaeleigh Mendez and Talina Valdez did most of the damage at the plate: Mendez scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Valdez scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Mendez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ameris Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Carroll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gregory-Portland only posted a batting average of .214.

Carroll pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for King, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
