Baseball Game Preview: Yates Center Wildcats vs. Central Heights Vikings

The Yates Center Wildcats will challenge the Central Heights Vikings on Monday. Yates Center has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Yates Center lost 19-4 to Crest on Thursday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Evan McVey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. McVey is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Central Heights strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Southeast. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Vikings have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Kreig Garrett made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Garrett was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Garrett wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kord Stroup, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That double marked the first that Stroup hit this season.

Yates Center's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Central Heights, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Yates Center came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Heights in their previous meeting back in May of 2019, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
