Wilson Area is 8-2 against Pen Argyl since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Warriors will square off against the Green Knights at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Wilson Area put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over Moravian Academy. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Wyatt Deemer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wilson Area is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8 otherwise. Deemer was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Charles Fredericks looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
Back at the plate, Liam Coyle was incredible, firing off three triples, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-5. Wilson Area is undefeated when Coyle posts three or more RBI, but 5-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ryan Bonham, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pen Argyl, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Notre Dame an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. The Green Knights not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 22-4).
Lucas Lerch and Cayden Vishnesky did most of the damage at the plate: Lerch went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Vishnesky went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Haros, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Pen Argyl now has a winning record of 7-6-1. As for Wilson Area, their record now sits at 8-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wilson Area has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pen Argyl struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wilson Area came out on top in a nail-biter against Pen Argyl in their previous matchup on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
