Moapa Valley takes loss despite strong efforts from Bryson Walker and Brigham Whitmore

Recap: Moapa Valley Pirates vs. Eldorado Sundevils

The Moapa Valley Pirates were the 47-45 winner over the Eldorado Sundevils when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Moapa Valley fell 64-53 to Eldorado on Wednesday. Moapa Valley's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Moapa Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Brigham Whitmore and Bryson Walker. Whitmore dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Walker scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Jaxson Bunker was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Even though they lost, Moapa Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eldorado only pulled down five offensive rebounds.

Eldorado's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert "RJ" Waddell, who scored 20 points along with five steals. Waddell is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 17 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamarion Durant, who scored 16 points along with five steals.

Moapa Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-17-1. As for Eldorado, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-14.

Moapa Valley will head out on the road to take on The Meadows School at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Meadows School is coming into the matchup with seven straight wins at home, so Moapa Valley is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Eldorado, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chaparral at 6:30 p.m. on February 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Chaparral is ranked 57th, while Eldorado is ranked 70th).
