Basketball Recap: Woodward Takes a Loss

Woodward lost against Marie Philip back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Woodward Wildcats were outmatched by the Marie Philip Galloping Ghosts and fell 44-16. The Wildcats were down 38-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Kai Gabriel had a dynamite game for Marie Philip, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Gabriel is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Kirlis, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Woodward's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Marie Philip, they moved to 4-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodward will square off against Commonwealth at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Marie Philip, they will challenge Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
