Softball Recap: Peyton Fitzgerald's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Auburn over Central

Auburn entered their game against Central on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Tigers might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-1 to the Red Devils, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Tigers, who until this match were averaging 3.89 runs allowed.

Auburn saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Fitzgerald, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

This is the second loss in a row for Auburn and nudges their season record down to 18-9. As for Central, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 30-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Auburn will be taking part in a tournament against Thompson at 4:10 p.m. on Friday. As for Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Opelika at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
