Softball Game Preview: Meridian Warriors vs. Borah Lions

The Meridian Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Borah Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Meridian is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Capital, who was ranked ninth at the time (Meridian was ranked 24th). The Warriors fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since April 11, 2024.

Meanwhile, Borah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Mountain View, falling 11-1.

Borah saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justice Pruitt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Borah's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Meridian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Meridian might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Borah in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
