The Crestwood Comets are taking a road trip to take on the Northwest Area Rangers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Crestwood let Pittston stack six runs on them in the sixth inning on Thursday but luckily Crestwood prevailed anyway. The Comets came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 11-8.
The team relied heavily on Alexa Toniatti, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Jorja Snyder was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Northwest Area waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Griffins as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The Rangers' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.
Not much got past Jenna Robaczewski, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Sullivan County off the board. Robaczewski has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ava Ruckle was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Hermanofski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Northwest Area hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sullivan County struck out nine times.
Northwest Area's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Crestwood, their record is now 7-9.
Saturday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Crestwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Northwest Area struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
