Baseball Recap: North Penn Has No Trouble Against Ephrata

With a playoff win on the line, North Penn rose to the challenge on Monday. They put the hurt on the Ephrata Mountaineers with a sharp 8-2 victory. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly six runs.

Trevor Lugara spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Christian Barnes was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Brace, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

North Penn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ephrata only posted an OBP of .222.

North Penn pushed their record up to 20-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Ephrata, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 18-10.

As of now, neither North Penn nor the Mountaineers have any future games scheduled.
