League recap: Big week boosts Nazareth in national rankings

Lehigh Valley league recap: 5/21/12

Nazareth made the biggest jump in the national rankings, moving from 1362 to 1087 thanks to a 1-0 record over the past week. The Eagles are currently No. 28 in the state of Pennsylvania, with an overall record of 15-4.

Nick Rabasco was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a .750 average with two RBIs. His Parkland team went 0-1.

Louis E. Dieruff's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only eight hits and five walks, both of which led the league. The Huskies have given up a mere 177 hits on the year, while striking out 81 opposing hitters. Nick Hoffman is the leader in that category with 38 Ks on the season.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Hoffman, who turned in seven Ks for Louis E. Dieruff. With 38 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks second in the league.

Damin Muth was the player of the game on Wednesday, with seven RBIs in Nazareth's 7-5 victory over Parkland.
