Softball Game Preview: Tonopah Valley Phoenix vs. Kingman Bulldogs

Tonopah Valley hasn't had much luck against Kingman recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Phoenix will welcome the Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. Tonopah Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.

Tonopah Valley fell victim to Chino Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Phoenix's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kingman). They never let Highland Prep get on the board and left with a 23-0 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kingman pushed their record up to 10-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Tonopah Valley, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Tonopah Valley suffered a grim 22-3 defeat to Kingman in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Phoenix avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
