Football Recap: Savannah Christian Starts Season with Win Against Whitefield Academy + How To Watch

Savannah Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 38-28 win over the Whitefield Academy WolfPack. That's more bragging rights for the Raiders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Blaise Thomas had a dynamite game, rushing for 187 yards and one TD while picking up 9.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 91 yards and three touchdowns. Those 187 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Wesley Dinkins helped out on the ground, rushing for 102 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Savannah Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 384 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitefield Academy only rushed for 121 rushing yards.

When it comes to explaining why Whitefield Academy lost, don't look at Landon Ryan. Despite the final result, he threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns.

Coming up, Savannah Christian will look to defend their home field on Friday against New Hampstead at 7:30 p.m. As for Whitefield Academy, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Mount Vernon at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
