Basketball Recap: Hillside Comes Up Short

Hillside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 75-18 loss at the hands of the T.W. Andrews Red Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 428th, while the Red Raiders are ranked 71st).

Hillside got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Kynnedy Roberts and Morgan Trotman, who each put up five points. Roberts also led the team in rebounds with four.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead T.W. Andrews to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sanai' Johnson, who posted 18 points. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Janiya Milligan was another key player, putting up 15 points along with five boards and three blocks.

Hillside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for T.W. Andrews, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.

Hillside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-34 loss against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability on the 20th. As for T.W. Andrews, they will take on Reidsville at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. T.W. Andrews knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Reidsville likes a good challenge.
