Nebraska high school football: State passing, rushing and receiving yardage leaders

Jett Thomalla, Conor Booth and Braxton Chvatal lead offensive yardage categories.

According to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, Jett Thomalla of Millard South (Omaha) leads Nebraska high school football in passing yardage with 1,718 through seven games. In a 14-10 win over Columbus last weekend, Thomalla completed 13 of 22 attempts for 169 yards and a touchdown to surpass 2,000 career yards as a sophomore.

In addition to nearing 1,800 yards this season, the chart topper has completed 106 of 180 passes and has thrown 17 touchdowns to just three interceptions. Thomalla threw for a season-high 367 yards and four scores in a 56-19 win over Millard North.

The state's top runner is junior Conor Booth of Bishop Neumann (Wahoo), who has rushed for 1,501 yards and 25 touchdowns during a 6-1 start for his team. Booth has carried 142 times and is averaging more than 10 yards per pop. His season-high 313 yards and five scores on the ground helped Bishop Neumann to a 62-10 win over Lincoln Lutheran in September.

Braxton Chvatal of North Bend Central (North Bend) is the Cornhusker State's leading receiver with 728 yards on 51 catches and eight touchdowns. The 5-11 sophomore has 51 receptions and eight touchdowns. Chvatal has reached 100 yards receiving three times this season including 12 catches for 159 yards in a loss to Bishop Neumann two weeks ago.
