Football Game Preview: St. Thomas More Sabers vs. Meridian Hawks

The St. Thomas More Sabers will venture away from home to challenge the Meridian Hawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

St. Thomas More's offense might be in the hot seat on Saturday considering what happened against Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski on Saturday. They took a 6-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The game marked the first time this year in which the Sabers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Meridian). They really took it to Blue Ridge for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-26 victory. The Hawks pushed the score to 61-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Knights cut but never quite recovered from.

A big part of Meridian's win came down to the chemistry between Seth Ralston and his top target Bryce Brown. Ralston gained 199 total yards and three touchdowns while Brown threw for 201 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 passes. Those five passing touchdowns gave Brown a new career-high.

Meridian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 269 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matchups.

St. Thomas More's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Meridian, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
