Softball Preview: North Central Knights vs. Great Falls Red Devils
After both having extra time off, the North Central Knights and the Great Falls Red Devils will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
North Central waltzed into their game last Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Eagles.
Mackenzie Melton made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Melton has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in eight consecutive pitching appearances. Melton was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Bailee Baker was excellent, going 1-for-1 with a triple, a run, and an RBI. Aubrey Taylor was another key contributor, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Great Falls fell victim to Lewisville and their airtight pitching crew two weeks ago. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 12-0 walloping at the hands of the Lions. Great Falls has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
