Lakeside School came tearing into Tuesday's contest with 16 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Evangel Christian Lightning by a score of 5-2. For the Chiefs, this counts as revenge for the 9-8 win the Lightning walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Demetrius Hardnett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tyler Mark Bullock was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Trent Hayes was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Lakeside School pushed their record up to 46-4 with the victory, which was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Evangel Christian, their defeat ended a 15-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 24-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lakeside School beat the Lightning by a score of 1-0 later that day.
