Faith Christian extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Wilson Christian Academy. They put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Austin Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Noah Lester was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Faith Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Faith Christian pushed their record up to 18-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Wilson Christian Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-13.
