Softball Recap: Watkins Memorial Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Watkins Memorial can now relate to. They came up short against the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets on Wednesday, falling 12-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-0 defeat back in April.

With the defeat, Watkins Memorial broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-11. As for Mt. Vernon, the victory (which was their 19th in a row) raised their record to 25-2.

Watkins Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mt. Vernon, they will take on Dublin Scioto at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Irish's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Yellowjackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
