Softball Recap: Fortuna Beats Mckinleyville for Their Seventh Straight Win

Fortuna barely beat McKinleyville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Huskies were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Panthers on Wednesday. The win was nothing new for the Huskies as they're now sitting on seven straight.

McKinleyville's batters probably weren't too happy with Isabel Sanchez, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (she gave up four walks). Sanchez has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Faith Helms was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evalynn Little, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Fortuna's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for McKinleyville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, Fortuna and McKinleyville will both be playing Del Norte the next time they take the field. The Huskies will host the Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Panthers will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
