Basketball Recap: Oak Hills Highlanders vs. Lakota West Firebirds
The Oak Hills Highlanders lost against the Lakota West Firebirds back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Oak Hills fell just short of the Firebirds by a score of 50-47.
Oak Hills' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bobby Stidham, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. Nate Riep was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Oak Hills' loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Lakota West, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Hills will take on the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Lakota West, they will be playing at home against the Middies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Ohio (Middletown is ranked 64th, while the Firebirds are ranked 51st).
