Baseball Recap: Arvin Drops Season-High Score on Del Oro

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arvin). Everything went their way against the Del Oro Suns on Thursday as they made off with a 20-3 victory. With that win, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Alex Nunez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Nunez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noe Perez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Fabian Pedroza was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Arvin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Arvin, bringing their record up to 10-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Del Oro, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, Arvin will square off against Tulare Union at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Del Oro, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Foothill at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd. The Suns' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
