Baseball Recap: Oglesby's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Oglesby came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Aquilla Cougars. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 9-5 win two weeks ago.

Holdyn Goff made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Callen Webb was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jakson Tippit, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Oglesby's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Aquilla, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

Looking ahead, Oglesby will face off against Bluff Dale at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Aquilla does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
