Baseball Recap: French Camp Academy Finds Playoff Glory Versus Lumberton

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but French Camp Academy had no problem doing just that on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over Lumberton. Eight seems to be a good number for French Camp Academy as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Benjamin Wright was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Wright wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Bain, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

French Camp Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

French Camp Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Lumberton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-10-1.

Looking ahead, French Camp Academy will take on Sacred Heart on Friday. The Crusaders will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. Lumberton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
