Recap: Orestimba Warriors vs. Marysville Indians
After a string of five wins, the Orestimba Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Marysville 55-51.
Orestimba lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Matthew Wales, who scored 12 points. Wales set a new season high mark in points with 12. Another player making a difference was Devon Bell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Orestimba were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marysville only pulled down an offensive rebound.
Marysville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bradford Pietz led the charge by scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Pietz also pulled down eight rebounds for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Arrington, who scored ten points.
Orestimba's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1. As for Marysville, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orestimba will take on Escalon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Escalon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Orestimba in California (Escalon is ranked 184th, while Orestimba is ranked 466th). As for Marysville, they will be playing at home against West Campus at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully West Campus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday.
