Baseball Recap: Benicia Gets the Win

While Benicia's win against Alhambra wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 4-3. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Dominic Louro looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Benicia's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 9-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Myles Cooper and Peyton Rowles did most of the damage at the plate: Cooper went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Rowles got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Cooper has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nash Rubins, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Benicia's victory bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Alhambra, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.

Benicia will have a chance to go back-to-back against Alhambra: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
