Baseball Recap: Lake Norman Charter Takes Down West Henderson in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lake Norman Charter walked away with it. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the West Henderson Falcons on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Trevor Cook made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Lake Norman Charter: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-10 otherwise. Cook was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Cook wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Braden Wilkie, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three hits gave Wilkie a new career-high. Janson Kane also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Lake Norman Charter's record now sits at 13-10. As for West Henderson, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-12-1.

Coming up, Lake Norman Charter will square off against East Rowan on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. West Henderson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
