Volleyball Game Preview: Springfield Blue Devils vs. St. Ignatius Wildcats

Springfield is 0-3 against St. Ignatius since May of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Blue Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Springfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Adrian, who was ranked 11th in their home state at the time (Springfield was ranked 24th). The Blue Devils walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Maples on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Springfield walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 21-25, 25-16, 25-11.

Meanwhile, St. Ignatius made easy work of Normandy on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

The final score came out to 25-13, 25-15, 25-17.

St. Ignatius' win bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Springfield, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.

Springfield suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to St. Ignatius when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
